Window Treatment Case Study
This project was for an existing client for whom I had previously carried out a significant amount of work. Here, my client needed help with their snug, which already featured some bold Marvel artwork they wanted to keep, along with a few design ideas of their own. As the artwork had a strong, masculine feel, my client needed help bringing some femininity into the room, softening the look whilst also ensuring it felt cosy and family orientated, as this is where they spent most of their time together.

As often happens, the level of support required sat somewhere between a couple of the design and consultancy packages I offer, so I tailored my services and pricing accordingly.
This project was a little more tricky, so I began by giving my client a choice of suitable wallcovering options which would compliment the artwork. I felt this was a necessary starting point as the wall choice determined where I needed to introduce the feminine elements of the design.

The design was based on my clients artwork

Wallpaper choice with artwork
Once my client had chosen - a dark grey, subtle animal print wallpaper - I was able to present a selection of fabric combinations which complimented both the walls and artwork, whilst also softening the overall look of the room.
Before
After
My client chose a bold chartreuse fabric for the pelmet which really popped against the darker grey walls. This was paired with a vibrant embroidered floral linen for the blinds, finished off with a pom pom trim along the bottom edge of the pelmet.
As usual all blinds are cascading, interlined and have rod pockets sewn into the lining, giving a neat finish when viewed from outside. I also felt the original pelmet was far too deep for the size of the window, so I reduced it to bring it into better proportion and allow the blinds to be seen underneath when drawn up. To complete the scheme I made cushions in the same fabrics, along with a few in a bright turquoise colour.
Testimonial
..........
Sarah has designed several rooms for me and I am delighted with the result of each room. She takes on board all my requirements and wants in the room and produces the most beautiful mood boards with options to choose from. I love the way she will come up with ideas and options that I would never think of, but they are exactly what I want. Her vision for a room is incredible - she is a very talented, creative lady. Sarah has also made the most stunning curtains and blinds for me, up cycled and painted furniture to create stunning items. I have no hesitation recommending Sarah.
