Consultancy Case Study

This was a project for an existing client, for whom we had previously created sheer curtains with a painted wooden pelmet in the living room. The pelmet was designed to appear as part of the structure of the house, giving a sleek, modern finish. My client wanted to achieve the same look in the bedroom, this time incorporating a hidden motorised blind beneath the pelmet.

My client had already decided on paneling for one wall in green but needed guidance on the specific shade, along with the wall colours and fabric choices needed to bring the whole scheme together. I proposed Little Greene Portland Stone Light for the walls, skirting and ceiling, with Little Greene Sage Green for the panelling and wardrobes. I also suggested the wardrobe door pulls be painted in Fusion Mineral Cast Iron.

Once the paint colours were agreed I was able to focus on the window treatment. I recommended Thibaut Berkshire sheer fabric in Pearl. As my client wanted something with a more relaxed, free-flowing feel, I suggested making the sheers as three separate, unfixed panels, allowing them to be positioned anywhere along the track. I presented a choice of handpicked complimentary fabrics for the motorised blind and together we decided on the best power option.

Alongside this, I gave reassurance to my client on their bed choice and, at the time these images were taken, had given suggestions for ceiling lighting.

I painted the wardrobes and panelling. The pelmet was built at our premises and, once installed, I spent time painting, sanding, filling and refining to ensure a completely seamless finish. I then went on to make the sheer curtains and sourced the motorised blind. The clients already have a controlled lighting system, so they arranged for lighting within the pelmet themselves, although this is something we can also provide.
